Amazon today unveiled 7 products of Kindle family, including the $69 new Kindle; Kindle Paperwhite WiFi/3G, priced at $119 / $179; 7-inch Kindle Fire regular edition/HD version, $159/$ 199; 8.9inch Kindle Fire HD with WiFi/4G Edition at $299 /$499. However, the Amazon phone did not show up.
The 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD is today's highlight, because it looks real similar to iPad. Kindle Fire HD has the following features:
- 1920 x 1200 resolution, 254PPI
- Texas Instruments OMAP 4470 processor, 20% faster than the previous version
- Dolby Digital Plus audio, dual speakers provide a better music listening experience
- Weight 0.56KG, thickness 8.8mm
- Built-in storage of 16GB and up
- Dual antenna
- 100,000 kinds Audiobooks
- Dual reading mode
- Support for 4G networks
Kindle Fire HD comes with Dolby Digital Plus technology and dual stereo speakers, it's the first tablet PCs which have this feature; in addition, it is equipped with WhisperSync Voice feature that allows users to do synchronization between audiobook and text reading. 8.9-inch WiFi version is priced at $299, it's $499 for 4G version of the Kindle Fire HD. They are expected to be on sale on November 20.
Meanwhile, Amazon announced the new Kindle Fire tablet 4G LTE data plan: a yearly cost of $49.99, contains 250MB traffic per month, 20GB cloud storage space and $10 Amazon credit.
It seems that the competition between Amazon and Apple is going more and more direct and tougher. Will this bring comsumers more choices? It's still to be seen whether Amazon's products can bring users unforgetable experience.
