Metadata

Metadata is a blog that describes itself as being about distributed systems broadly defined and other curiosities. Much of it consists of the author's readings of research papers, summarized and discussed in plain language. A post from September 2026, for example, reviews a new paper that applies Sutton's Bitter Lesson to data agents and argues that researchers should build curated contextual information about the data environment instead of agent scaffolding. The blog is updated regularly, with several posts in August and September 2026. It is a good way for engineers to keep up with database and distributed systems research without reading every paper.
