  32-bit vs 64-bit

I have knowledge on 32-bit vs 64-bit, but not very clear minded. Here is a good article I found about it. http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/32-bit-and-64-bit-explained.htm   Understand there are 3 things involved: CPU, OS and application. To work on 64-bit, first thing first is: you need a 64-bit CPU. 64-bit CPU usually provide emulation for 32-bit system. Though some 32-bit application still cannot run on 64-bit OS, because they might contain 16-bit code. 32-bit system won't have com...

YOU'RE A DEVELOPER, SO WHY DO YOU WORK FOR SOMEONE ELSE?

As a developer, you are sitting on a goldmine. Do you even realize it? No, seriously, a @#$% goldmine!Never in modern history has it been so easy to create something from scratch, with little or no capital and a marketing model that is limited only by your imagination.Think about the biggest websites you visit or use on a regular basis: Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Foursquare, or even Google for that matter -- all of them were created by developers who created something from little more than an id...

  How big is sizeof structure?

First let's see the codes of a structure: struct node{ int a; int b; }; Question : What's sizeof(node)? The answer is very simple, on a 32 bit machine, an int will take 4 bytes and two ints will take 8 bytes. So sizeof(node) is 8. The answer for the above codes is 8, then how about the following structure: struct node{ char a; int b; }; Question : Then what's sizeof(node) now? int takes 4 bytes, char takes 1 bytes, is the answer 5? Now the answer may not be 5, on some mac...

  Output control functions in PHP

The Output Control functions in PHP allow you to control when output is sent from the script. This can be useful in several different situations, especially if you need to send headers to the browser after your script has began outputting data. The Output Control functions do not affect headers sent using header() or setcookie(), only functions such as echo and data between blocks of PHP code. These output control functions include ob_start(0, ob_clean(),ob_get_contents(), etc. To be honest, I a...

Why would I learn C++11, having known C and C++?

I am a programmer in C and C++, although I don't stick to either language and write a mixture of the two. Sometimes having code in classes, possibly with operator overloading, or templates and the oh so great STL is obviously a better way. Sometimes use of a simple C function pointer is much much more readable and clear. So I find beauty and practicality in both languages. I don't want to get into the discussion of "If you mix them and compile with a C++ compiler, it's not a mix ...
