Article Read Help

We want to change the way you read articles

You may come to our article page through search engine (Google, Bing etc), social medias (Twitter, Facebook etc), social bookmarket(Digg,Reddit). You can read the article, put your comments and save it as PDF. But beyond these, you can do a lot more such as highlight portion of an article, put a note at any place. Next we will introduce these amazing features.

You may see a dialog when you open an article page, it looks like below:

This introduction dialog is to tell you that we provide a service which can let you read article in a different way. You can check the "Do not show again" box if you don't want to see this dialog again in the following week. Otherwise, it will show each time when the page loads.

Now if you right click the mouse on the article content area, a customized popup menu will show and it has some menus:

These menus help you edit the article content like editing a PDF file.

SaveN/AAfter you complete editing the page, you can save a version of your own. For details about save, please check here.
BookmarkShift+BIt enables you bookmark this page for next time read, it has the same function as the browser default Bookmark menu.
Share to...N/AIt allows you to share the page to social medias such as Facebook, Twitter,Reddit,Sina Weibo and more
CopyBy default, this menu is disabled since you don't select any portion of the article. Once you select a portion of the contents, this menu will be enabled and the contents can be copied to system clipboard.
HighlightShift+HBy default, this menu is disabled since you don't select any portion of the article. Once you select a portion of the contents, this menu will be enabled and the selected contents will be highlighted with yellow background color. For details about highlight, please check here.
UnhighlightN/ABy default, this menu is disabled since you don't click on the highlighted contents. Once you click on the selected contents, this menu will be enabled and the highlighted contents can be unhighlighted. For details about unhighlight, please check here.
Add tagN/AWhen you want to insert one tag at one place, you click at that place and then click this menu. A add tag dialog will show and you can put your notes there. For details about add tag, please check here.
Edit tagN/ABy default, this menu is disabled since you don't click on an existing tag. Once you click on one tag, this menu will be enabled and if you click this menu, an edit tag dialog will show and you can modify the contents you put previously. For details about edit tag, please check here.
Remove tagN/ABy default, this menu is disabled since you don't click on an existing tag. Once you click on one tag, this menu will be enabled and if you click this menu, the clicked tag will be removed. For details about remove tag, please check here.
Clear allN/ABy default, this menu is disabled since there are no highlighted contents and added tags. If you highlight any portion or you add at least one tag. This menu will be enabled and if you click on this menu. All the highlights and tags on the page will be removed.
RefreshF5When clicking on this menu, the page will be reloaded.
AboutN/AWhen clicking on this menu, an About dialog will show which contains the information about this service provided by us.

Save

When you click the "Save" menu, if you don't login yet, a dialog will show and ask you to login first to save the version you edited.

Once you logged in, the page will be redirected back and the contents will be saved.

NOTE : We encourage you to login first before you click the "Save" menu so that the edited version will not be lost by accident.

Highlight

If you select a portion of the contents on the page, when you right click the mouse, the popup menu will be like :

Once you click the "Highlight" menu, the selected portion will look like :

Unhighlight

Once you highlight portion of the page like above step. You can move your mouse over the highlighted portion and right click the mouse. Now the "Unhighlight" menu will be enabled.

Once you click the "Unhighlight" menu, the highlighted portion will be unhighlighted :

Add tag

When clicking the "Add tag" menu, you will see below add tag dialog:

After you put your comments and click "Save" button, a new node will be inserted into the place you clicked. If you move your mouse over that node, the tag dialog will show.

You will see the comments you put previously.

Edit tag

When you right click on the tag added above. The popup menu will show and the "Edit tag" menu will be enabled.

If you click on the "Edit tag" menu, the edit tag dialog will show and you can edit the comments.

After you complete your editing and click the "Update" button, the tag will be updated with the new comments.

Remove tag

When you right click on the tag added above. The popup menu will show and the "Remove tag" menu will be enabled.

If you click the "Remove tag" menu, the tag will be removed.

Version information

On the right side of the page, there is one section called "Other versions", this section contains the information about different versions edited by other users(Just like in Git, a code can be forked and edited by different users):

You can click on each version and see what others have done on this page. You can also click the "View all" button to check all the versions.

In this page, you will find all the versions available and you can read different versions from different users. You can also edit on others' versions and save it as your own version.
