Helping a billion people connect is amazing, humbling and by far the thing I am most proud of in my life.
I am committed to working every day to make Facebook better for you, and hopefully together one day we will be able to connect the rest of the world too.
There is also a fact sheet attached at the end of the open letter, From the fact sheet, we can find this milestne is reached on September 14 at 12.45 PM Pacific time. In addition, there are some impressive data.
Since launch, Facebook has accumulated 1130 billion "Like", 140.3 billion friend connections, 219 billion photo uploads, 17 billion location tagged posts, including check-ins and 62.6 million songs have been played 22 billion times.
Another data behind 1 billion active users is worthing mentioning, around 600 million active users are from handphones. Because of the mobile's importance and Facebook's focus on mobile, this data is very important to Facebook.
Of course, this milestone is expected, it's just a time problem. From previously unveiled data, Facebook's monthly active users and active handphone users are 955 million and 543 million respectively on 30 June, also Facebook's daily active users are 552 million in June 2012.
As a huge community, Facebook provides people a platform for communicating with friends, knowing new people all around the world and sharing news with others. It's a good thing for both Facebook and users. Hope that Facebook can provide better service.
