What is the significance of Microsoft HoloLens?

Just a few days ago, Microsoft announced a product which changes the way people see the world -- HoloLens. It is to be the first augmented-reality device done right. After Google has its Google Glass, Microsoft is also catching up with Google and Facebook. What's the significance of Microsoft HoloLens? Will people get into a new smart world? Which fields will be mostly influenced by HoloLens?

It is obvious that we are not ready for the new era yet. We are not prepared to accept the new smart devices which may or may not bring a revolution. It definitely wil be an successor of Google glass which is doomed to fail.

So don't waste our time. Just give us something we care mostly.
