Google launched new Chromebook in cooperation with Samsung

According to report from technology blog GigaOm, Google and its partner Samsung launched a new Chromebook and Chromebox yesterday, mainly targeting at education and corporation market.

New Chromebook looks like any other 12.1 inch computer, while Chromebox is a mini PC that can be connected to peripherals such as keyboard, mouse and monitor, just like Apple’s Mac Mini. Currently prices for Chromebook and Chromebox are $499 and $329 respectively.

They both are equipped with Intel Core processor, 4G RAM, USB ports. Chromebox has integrated Bluetooth and DVI output as well. In addition, Chromebook has a version with native support of 3G modem, at price of $529.

New Chrombook is expected to achieve 2.5x improvement in terms of device speed comparing to last Chromebook and supports 1080p high definition video. In addition, Google has introduced other functions like Multi-window support, saving and publishing favorite web application, customizing background, built-in ability to view office files online and offline etc. These features make Chromebook more like a popular desktop.

New products make great effort on Chrome’s Web Store as well. It supplies more than 50,000 applications for users.

New Chromebook and Chromebox are sold online only this week. From next week onwards, it will be available for sale in Bestbuy stores for the first time.
